Phoenix New Times reported that co-owners Chad Campbell and Shawn Silberblatt of the Uptown Phoenix shop For the People unveiled Dialog at 1001 North Central Avenue in late January 2023. The store occupies space in the Ten-O-One building, which also houses several restaurants and other retailers in the heart of the Roosevelt Row Arts District. Architect Wendell Burnette designed the interior with glossy white floors, celadon and white finishes and abundant natural light to create moments of beauty and stillness. The publication detailed how the concept draws from the owners’ experience with design and community engagement.

According to the Phoenix New Times, Dialog functions as an interactive space where every element is intended to spark conversation and engage the senses. Campbell told the outlet that the team wanted an interactive perspective and will change featured questions regularly to encourage visitor participation. Silberblatt explained in the article that a dialogue can happen verbally but everything in the store is designed to speak to all five senses, allowing for a constant conversation. The report noted the seamless flow between retail areas and the coffee counter at the rear adjoining a seating area that doubles as the building lobby.

Phoenix New Times figures show the store stocks furnishings from brands such as Tom Dixon, Bend Goods and Blu Dot alongside a Taschen library with more than 100 architecture and design titles. The market section includes groceries like crackers, salami, sardines, mustard and popcorn with plans to add local chocolates, kombucha and chips and salsa. Local art and items such as Render dish towels and Stelton coffee pour-overs round out the selection, the newspaper said. A coffee bar serves beverages from Stereoscope Coffee Co. with pastries and snacks available until 3 p.m.

The Arizona Republic’s March 2026 guide to Roosevelt Row listed more than a dozen galleries, studios and shops in the district, underscoring its role as downtown Phoenix’s primary arts hub. Dialog joins established spots like monOrchid, Modified Arts and various boutiques in an area that has transformed from empty lots in the late 1990s to a walkable destination with regular First Friday events. A 2024 PHX Rail Food review placed Dialog directly across from the Roosevelt and Central light rail station, highlighting its accessibility for visitors exploring the district’s public art and performance spaces.

In an interview with Phoenix New Times, Campbell and Silberblatt described Dialog as the 2.0 version of their earlier concepts, expanding into a full community space with plans for extended hours during art openings, fashion shows and performance art. The store operates from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, the publication reported. It participates in First Fridays, with an early event in March 2023 featuring ceramics by local artist Andrew Smith. The owners expressed commitment to adding dynamics to the neighborhood through retail that complements the existing bars, restaurants and condos.
