The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee will stage a special art program with fireworks on November 24 at three locations across the city, according to Tuoi Tre News. The live broadcast will originate from Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1, New City Central Park in Binh Duong Ward and Thap Tam Thang Square in Vung Tau Ward beginning at 8 p.m. This event forms the centerpiece of local observances for Vietnam Culture Day, which was designated by the Politburo in a resolution earlier this year.
Three-dimensional mapping shows will be projected onto the façade of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee headquarters and the Rex Hotel from November 21 to 24, the report indicated. These audiovisual displays will combine projections, sound and lighting effects to illustrate key cultural and historical images from Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City. Organizers expect the shows to draw large crowds and enhance public engagement with national heritage.
An accompanying art exhibition titled Ho Chi Minh City – Creative Culture, Shaping the Future will open at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts and Lam Son Park from November 20 to 24, Tuoi Tre News reported. The display will include paintings, sculptures, installations, video art and other contemporary works that reflect the city’s evolving identity and innovative spirit. Between November 22 and 24, dedicated spaces will introduce various cultural industries ranging from cinema and performing arts to handicrafts and digital transformation through interactive exhibits and workshops.
The establishment of Vietnam Culture Day on November 24 stems from Politburo Resolution 80-NQ/TW issued in January 2026, which also declared the date a paid holiday for workers nationwide. The resolution positions culture as a foundational element for national development and seeks to boost public participation in cultural activities. This year’s inaugural celebration coincides with a national week of unity and heritage events running from November 18 to 24.
In Hanoi, a major special arts program and concert at My Dinh National Stadium is expected to attract between 60,000 and 70,000 spectators as part of the central observances, according to statements from a government conference chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra on October 12. The deputy prime minister emphasized the need for profound impact in this first year of the holiday. Assignments for various ministries and localities were outlined to ensure coordinated and meaningful activities across the country.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has called on artists, theaters and local units to organize high-quality performances that blend tradition with modernity while reaching remote areas, schools and public spaces. Such programs should emphasize patriotism, national pride and traditional values without descending into superficial trends. Additional national events will include a cultural conference, film screenings and the launch of a digital cultural map to broaden access to Vietnamese heritage.
